If you’ve ever had to wait in a grocery store check-out line, you can instantly tell that people in our society place a high value on outward appearance. The women and men that grace the covers of tabloids and magazines are perfectly sculpted or air-brushed and photo-shopped to give that appearance. God is not like that. He values something far less visible but far more valuable.

1. We are Obsessed with the _______________. But God isn’t.

The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.

1 Samuel 16:7

But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. Matthew 15:18-19
